First Visit

Your first appointment will be for examination and review of your current dental health. Dr Sandhu will evaluate your dental health and will chart a dental treatment plan for you . During the first appointment x-rays will be taken of all your teeth, and treatment recommendations will be given to you. At the end of the appointment our front desk will be able to schedule any more appointments if needed.

To expedite your first appointment, please fill and print our patient registration form and carry it with you.

To avoid and unnecessary delays on your appointment, please have to following available:

  • Your referral slip and any X-rays if applicable.
  • A list of medications you are presently taking.
  • If you have medical or dental insurance, bring your card. This will save time and allow us to help you process any claims.

IMPORTANT: A parent or guardian must accompany all patients under 18 at the consultation visit.

Please alert the office if you have a medical condition that may be of concern prior to surgery (i.e. diabetes, high blood pressure, artificial heart valves and joints, rheumatic fever, etc.) or if you are on any medication (i.e. heart medications, aspirin, anticoagulant therapy, etc.) or require medication prior to dental cleanings (i.e antibiotics, for pre-med.)

X-Rays

If your previous dentist has taken recent x-rays (within 6-months), you may request that they forward them to our office. If there is not enough time, please pick them up and bring them to our office. If additional films are necessary, they can be taken at our facility.

Please Note: If you are unable to make it to the appointment, please call the office 24hrs prior to the appointment

Doctors visit can be very stressful for some of us.

How can my visit be anxiety free and pain free?

Many of us visit the dentist for regular 6 months cleaning and many of us do not. Many of us call on the dentist only when something in the mouth hurts. To make your visit to the dentist stress and anxiety free, the first step would be to be on top of your dental health. Make sure you visit our office every 6 months to get your teeth cleaned and your mouth examined for any developing cavities or issues.
Dr Sandhu's dental office staff is very patient and will assist you during your treatment. Any questions you have regarding the procedure, please feel free to talk to the doctor. We want you to be as informed as possible so that you are aware of the procedure and feel comfortable about it. Please discuss any special health related issues that you may have, so that we can make you feel comfortable. Your comfort and your dental health are our top most priority.
To reduce your anxiety, we do provide you an option to take nitrious oxide depending on your health condition.
To provide you with pain free experience, we use numbing medicine for all procedures. We will also numb your gums while deep teeth cleaning so that you do not feel any pain.

How long is the wait time for the first dental check up visit?

Ideally there is no wait time. We have more than 2 doctors at a time and hence we can service the patients very quickly. All of our rooms are equiped with mordern facilities and flat screen TVs, so even when you wait, you can watch your faviourite shows. If you can fill out the registration formonline and print or email it to us, there will be virtually no wait time

Do I need to take antibiotics if I am prone to infections quickly?

Certain medical conditions, such as heart valve problems or a recent total joint replacement, are considered at risk for infection at the site of the cardiac abnormality or joint replacement. This infection results from bacteria from the mouth entering the bloodstream and working its way to these vulnerable areas.
Certain procedures like cleaning, implants, tooth extractions can cause the gums to bleed and maybe infected and hence precautions need to taken to avoid complications.
We follow the guidelines setup by the American Heart Association and the American Dental Association. Being members of these associations, we get the latest updates.
Some other situations like teeth infections also warrant us to prescribe antibiotics.

Dr Sandhu and his team are here to assist you with any issues you have with your teeth. We are open on all days of the week.

We accept most insurance and also provide with financing options. We welcome you and your family to our office and will assure you of best dental care in San jose and the bay area
